A big thank you from Komiks.dk! |
|
Another festival is over, and two years of planning, imagining and creating has come to an end.
The organizers of the festival are all tired and over-worked, but it was worth it! For three wonderful days the art of comic books was celebrated in Copenhagen and more people than ever showed up to be part of the celebration. We tried to showcase the diversity in the comic book medium through our events and the comic creators invited to the festival. From the great American graphic novel to manga from both Japan and Europe. From the European album tradition to experimental underground comics and web-comics. From literary works aimed at an adult audience to cartoons aimed at the comic readers of tomorrow – the children. We have to say that we are rather pleased with the festival. But even more so with the amount of support we got from both the Danish comic book community and the audience who decided to show up for the festival and make it a success. Instead of naming a select few we are just going to say this: Thank you to all who helped us organize the festival or make it in any way possible and thank you to everyone who decided that our festival was a good way to spend a weekend. This is Komiks.dk 2010. Signing off.

Another amazing day at Komiks.dk! |
|
Is there a better way to spend a Sunday than by browsing comic book shops, attending workshops, listening to comic creators talking about their special line of work or getting the hottest, hippest graphic novel, manga or comic book signed by the artist or the writer?
We don’t think so. Which is just one of the many reasons why Komiks.dk is open for business on this fine, spring Sunday.
The doors open at 10.00 AM and we are open until 19.00 PM. We end the day with an amazing auction, where you can buy original artwork from some of the festival’s many guests. The auction starts at 17.00 PM.
Welcome to another day of Komiks.dk!

The first day of Komiks.dk 2010 is over!
Every international guest made it to Copenhagen – even those from Iceland – and the convention floor was filled with happy, comic loving people.
The second day starts at 10.00 AM on Sunday! See you there for another day of comics and celebration.

This year’s festival is visited by comic creators, publishers and comic experts from all over the world!
You can meet the American graphic novelist Chris Ware, the creator of the masterpiece Jimmy Corrigan – The Smartest Kid on Earth. There is also a chance to meet fellow US graphic novelist, Daniel Clowes – the creator of both Ghost World and the recently released Wilson – and Charles Burns, who is probably most known for his disturbing graphic novel, Black Hole.
From the American mainstream we are visited by three Brits. None other than the artist behind what many call the best superhero book ever, Watchmen, is in attendance: Dave Gibbons. He is joined by two equally talented gentlemen – Frank Quitely (All Star Superman, We3) and Kevin O’Neill (The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen). Europe has a long tradition of comics, which is why we just had to invite several European superstars as well: Jean Van Hamme (Thorgal, XIII), Chistophe Arleston (Lanfeust of Troy) and Daan Jippes (Havank) are all attending the festival.
From Finland Komiks.dk is visited by the Donald Duck artist Kari Korhonen. It wouldn’t be a proper Komiks.dk Festival without the Duck!
Germany is filled with interesting and groundbreaking comics creators and graphic novelists. We have invited two of these graphic novelists to the festival: Line Hoven (Liebe Schaut Weg) and Arne Bellstorf (Acht, Neun, Zehn). Both of these artists are published at German publishers Reprodukt, who will also have a stand at the festival. Another German creator is Anike Hage, who is responsible for the manga Gothic Sports. She is joined by the head of the German division of Tokyopop, Joachim Kaps.
Other manga related guests include Åsa Ekström from Sweden. Her manga is called Sayonara September. And last, but certainly not least, we have invited a Japanese manga-ka: Keitarō Arima (Moon Phase). There will also be plenty of manga workshops, anime-screenings and a host of other manga related events.
Welcome to Komiks.dk! We hope you enjoy yourself. |

J. F Willumsen tegneseriekonkurrence |
|
Nyskabende tegneseriekonkurrence udskrives af J.F. Willumsens Museum!
